Ok, have you heard of the book? Replace the definitely with for and you'll get the real title. I don't want to type it out because google could potentially lead everyone I know to this blog. And it's my little secret remember?

Anyhoo, before we moved a year and a half ago, the author was our pastor.

The book has been #1 on NY Times Bestseller list, and a couple weeks ago was featured in People magazine. They've been all over the news around here.

If you haven't read the book you should. The story is awesome. And it's real.

Unfortunately, it seems the fame is tearing apart our church family back home.

It makes me sad.

But I take hope in God's word: For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. -Matthew 23:12

God's will be done, but may the humbling take place sooner rather than later.

Okay sometimes you have to quit something to make you realize what you had. I'M NOT READY! I can't just quit. No, I'm not around much, but I can make it better! So scratch the last post, I'm not going to quit blogging completely, I just can't.

Now that we have that out of the way. I need to vent. This is our first month on Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover, and I totally excited. For meal planning I bought a 3-month-subscription to e-mealz.com. We got the low-carb plan. I just went to the store and spent NINETY-THREE DOLLARS on 4 meals plus a few staples like milk, bread and peanut butter! SERIOUSLY?!? Uh, not exactly in the budget. I was completely disappointed. Hubby thinks we should buy a month's worth of groceries but I can't decide. I spent over an hour at the store and I'm NOT doing that every week!

How do you meal plan?

In March I read an obituary in the paper. A 3-month-old baby who died of SIDS. With The Baby being only a few weeks older, this hit home hard, and my heart ached for this family.

Last month, a friend of mine introduced me to a friend of hers. She took me aside and asked if it would be okay if her friend could hold The Baby, because hers had died about 8 months ago. I immediately knew who it was. Tears ran down my face as my baby laid her head down on my new friend's shoulder.

Unfortunately, losing her baby is only a fraction of what she's going through right now. Too make an incredibly long story short, her ex's family has money, and there are some messed up things going on right now. She lost custody of her 2-yr-old. So now she's alone, fighting for one son and grieving for another.

Pray for her. Please. God wants her to have her son, I know it. Evil just can't win. I pray that God's power shines through! Good will prevail!

dog dilemma! HELP!

I need your help. To make a long story shorter, Hubby brought home a 5 month "Heinz 57" dog on Thursday night that he adopted from the shelter. He is thought to be a lab/boxer mix but no one knows for sure. Several people, including a dog trainer and pet store owner think he has pit bull in him.

When Hubby heard that he took the dog back, but we ended up picking him back up later. There's no way to actually prove he's pit without very expensive genetic testing.

He's a very laid back dog! Just lays around and lets the kids just do whatever. He won't play or anything though. This worries me. Is he going to turn on us? He's done absolutely nothing to make us think he could be dangerous, but I just don't know what to do. If we take him back the kids will be devastated. I keep telling myself to give him time to adjust to his new environment, but I just don't know.

Oh how I miss you my dear friends. Things will happen throughout the day and I think, "I'm gonna go home and blog about this." BUT DO I? No. My people in review is WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY behind! When I finally do it it'll be a long one!

Since I last made an appearance Otter turned 7. We had a huge Iron Man party complete with a bounce house and 20 kids! Good times good times.

Today The Baby is one year old. Everyone always says it goes so fast but WHOA, it goes so fast.

As soon as school gets out for Christmas I'm planning a big giveaway and review week so stay tuned for more info on that!

Otter's 7th birthday is coming up and he's all into Kung Zhu pets. I informed my mom what he wanted and this is the conversation she had with Otter over the phone.

Mom: Otter, I have a question for you and wondered if I might ask your opinion.

Otter: Sure, Grandma. What’s up?

Mom: Well I’ve been looking at some Zhu pets and I really don’t know what they’re about.

Otter: Oh Grandma, they’re awesome!

Mom: Well I’ve been thinking about how you don’t pick up your toys and how things get lost so fast and how they get broken. Sometimes when you say you really want something, you really don’t care about it when you get it.

Otter: Oh Grandma, you will not believe how responsible I would be. I would build a container at After School Club to keep them in. It would never be a problem. Oh Grandma, I really want the Special Forces . . . . . {and on and on and on} Do you have your computer handy?

Mom: I saw something about a hamster set? Is that what you want?

Otter: Awesome! They’re like little mice. Oh yeah, hamsters. That’s it. And . . . and . . . and . . .something about Ninja . . . and . . . {His description went on and on with intense enthusiasm.}

Otter: And there’s a thing like a house.

Mom: An arena?

Otter: That’s exactly it. How did you know? Did you see it on the computer or in real life? I know that where you live is a long way to drive to Sidney?

Me: Sidney? What’s in Sidney?

Otter: Well that’s where my friend, Gabby, got hers. She thought they were about gone. So I better hang up so you can go to Sidney. Bye. I love you.

Mom: Wait, Otter. I’m not going to Sidney. But I’ll be thinking about whether this is something you’ll take care of.

Otter: Absolutely, Grandma. You can count on me.

Mom: Have a good day at school. Bye. I love you.

Otter: Bye.

Ring . . . .

Mom: Hello.

Otter: Grandma, you hung up before I could tell you something. I think there’s a way that you can get them on the computer. I think it takes money though. I don’t know for sure how it works but somehow you can put money in the computer. Do you want me to ask my mom?

Hahahahahaah! My mom sent me this by email because she thought it was so hilarious. I have to admit I was laughing myself. The last part is my favorite!

on the fence with infant baptism

I was raised Methodist. Hubby was raised Lutheran. Both of these denominations believe in infant baptism. Otter was baptized in the Methodist church.

Hubby and I were married in the Methodist church, but we switched to the Wesleyan church about 6 months into our marriage, not because we didn't want to be Methodist, but because there were so many young families at the Wesleyan and it seemed a better fit for us. It was.

We were blessed with an amazing church family and we loved the church. Hubby made leaps and bounds in his walk with Christ, as did I. It was home.

Now we come to one of the big differences between the churches. Baptism. The Wesleyan church does not believe in infant baptism. They think it should be something children choose when they're old enough to understand. Ok, I get it. Hubby had a 3 hour conversation with the pastor about it which convinced him that this was the way to go. Therefore when Raven was born we did not have her baptized.

The Wesleyan church does dedications instead, which is basically the parents dedicating to raise their child to walk with Christ. Makes sense.

Now we are in a new place, and attending an E-Free/Berean combination, who also does not believe in infant baptism. A church we also love.

But now I'm teaching at a Lutheran school, which made me question our beliefs of baptism. Lutherans believe that baptism is not about us choosing God, but about God choosing us, that it's God's work in us, not our work in God. Ok, that makes sense to me too.

So now what??????

Hubby and I have both been baptized twice, as infants and as adults. Our church acknowledges our adult baptism, the Lutheran church acknowledges our first baptism.

Neither of the girls have been baptized or dedicated. We're planning a dedication in December, but I would really like them baptized, as would our Lutheran and Methodist families. But Hubby's not budging.

Now let me make myself clear. I do NOT believe my girls are going to hell because they aren't baptized, and neither does the Lutheran or Methodist churches. I do NOT believe the Holy Spirit is not in my girls because they haven't been baptized. God loves us all.

Can't we all just love Jesus without the different beliefs? It's so confusing. I feel torn between my two church families and I don't like it.

I'd really appreciate hearing your views on the subject. Do you believe in infant baptism? Why or why not?

I was pretty excited when asked to do a review for CSN Stores. My giveaway for them a while back was a great success and we are enjoying the bookshelf we purchased.

Now that I have a job and some extra money I'm trying to convince Hubby to redecorate....ahem.....decorate our house. We've lived here for a year and there's still nothing on the walls in our living room except for the kids' pictures. It's pathetic. And since we're on the subject of redecorating, is this ottoman coffee table cute or what?!?

I know.

So stay tuned for my upcoming review. If I don't get something for the house I'm thinking about getting some rain boots. Been wanting some forever. Do you like these or these?

A 3 DAY WEEKEND! Woohoo! I survived my first parent teacher conferences this week. I have been blessed with 11 marvelous students. Otter and I have made strides in our teacher/student relationship which makes life much easier.

The girls love their daycare provider and so do I.

Life is practically perfect. {Just add a maid and personal chef and we'd be good to go.}

My dad bought Otter the Iron Man 2 movie. We watched it last night. I have to say it was awesome. Tony Stark is hot. If you haven't seen it you must!

Today my bff and her baby are coming to visit. Looking forward to some quality time with them.

I've found a new love for thrift! I've pretty much purchased new wardrobes for everyone in our family, which means 5 times the laundry. I'm working on packing up older clothes to take them to consignment. I figure at thrift prices I can buy a new wardrobe every year. :)

iron man pretty much rocks

If you're not new around here, you know that Otter is obsessed with all things superhero. I think our costume count is now around 15. And that's just Otter. Raven has all the Disney princess costumes and then some. It's Halloween everyday around here.

Otter's fave is Iron Man. And as soon as he saw the second movie he started begging for an Iron Man 2 costume. He already has the first costume, but apparently the second costume has a triangle instead of a circle. Whatever. Well no way no how was I buying him a brand new costume. Pretty much all others have been gifts and thrifts.

Well wouldn't you know Costume Supercenter contacted me for a review, so OF COURSE I had to get the Light Up Iron Man Mark VI Costume.

You can only imagine Otter's face when he opened it after I pretty much screamed at him to never ask me again if he could have a new Iron Man costume.

He LOVES it! The triangle actually lights up which he thinks is pretty "suh-weet". And it has muscles which was an added bonus as well.

the teacher's kid

Otter and I have maintained a good teacher/student relationship. Until today.

He's on an IEP due to "lost time" back when he was having constant seizure activity. He has a difficult time staying on task and it's probably worse with his mom as the teacher.

We had about 5 minutes of free time before our next subject and I told Otter he needed to finish his handwriting from earlier in the day. He complained and I told him he could wait until Ketchup. (Ketchup time = catch up time. Get it?) When Ketchup rolled around he threw a HUGE temper tantrum. Like I don't even see these at home! He pretty much lost it and started bawling and got mad several times until he threw his pencil across the room. He was so upset I had to send him to the office. It was CRAZY!

That's MY kid. The kid ALL the teachers raved about last year. How kind and polite he was. Who is this kid? I want my kid back.

I pray this was a one time occurrence. I really want him in my class and he wants to be in my class as well. But this kind of thing can't happen again.

The first week of school was absolutely fantabulous! Well except for the girls getting sick but that's a story for another day. The SmartBoard of course acted like a piece of crap but I was able to get through the presentation and the kids LOVED it! We filled out a first day of school questionnaire thingy and almost all the kids said the SmartBoard was their favorite. Okay after recess.

The most {secretly} laughable moment was when we were filling out the questionnaire and one girl wrote "I wore green shit" instead of "green shirt".

Otter was great and it was definitely the right decision to transfer schools. I can already tell this experience is going to strengthen our relationship.

After school on Friday we took off for my hometown to attend the county fair. In my 26 years of life I have NEVER missed a county fair. Crazy right? I was exhausted but the kids had a blast riding rides. I went on a few myself and have discovered that the older I get the weaker my stomach gets!

I spent 4 hours at the school this afternoon getting plans ready for next week. Can't wait until I find a routine for getting things done! I MISS MY BLOGGY BUDS! Hope to see you soon!

keeping God in our schools

I can't tell you how excited I am to be teaching in a Christian school. After years of searching I feel God has finally led me to my "calling".

In today's schools where prayer is not allowed and where we can't say the Pledge of Allegiance because it has the word God in it, I get to teach our future generation about Jesus, how he saved us, how he loves us! I get to pray with my students.

I'm so excited we've decided to enroll Otter. Although I'm sure it will be very challenging at times to teach him, this is the environment I want for him.

Every morning before school the staff spends time in the word with daily devotions. I'm really looking forward to this. I've never been good at keeping myself accountable to read His Word everyday, and now I can do it as part of my job!

Is the pay great? NO! It's really not even good. Nebraska is one of the lowest paying states in the country for teachers, and my school is quite a bit below that.

But my true reward will be waiting for me in heaven.

I finally feel like I'm getting things accomplished at the school! Such a relief. I've spent WAY too much time playing with the SmartBoard program but it's too fun.

We are a small school which means I will be teaching everything, including Music, Art, and P.E. I can't even draw a stick person. And I don't exercise. At all. So ya that'll be interesting.

I've really been enjoying home visits. It's nice to see the kids in their own element. I can already tell it's going to be a GREAT year!

blogging shouldn't be a chore

Well clearly I've missed Movie Monday again. I've decided to put it on the back burner for now. I want blogging be an outlet and it's becoming more of a chore. Therefore I'm not committing myself to any memes for the time being.

The girls did great at their first day of daycare. We're doing half days this week. I'm doing home visits for my students this week and we'll start school next Wednesday. I had Smart Board training today and can't believe how awesome the technology is!

I feel like I have a zillion things to do before school starts. I haven't even started to think about lesson plans for the first week. Thankfully I have a good support system but I'm feeling overwhelmed.

Our weekend getaway was AMAZING! I needed it so so badly! I'll be honest and admit I didn't even miss my kids. ;)

Ya know that weekend getaway I planned? Well I kinda didn't check my calendar and that's school cleaning weekend. Oops. Not a good way to start off the school year but I'm not cancelling the trip.

I took all 3 kids to Wal-Mart (which is 50 miles away) on Monday to buy school supplies and I about lost my mind. It was an all day excursion.

When I posted about my Wal-Mart trip on Facebook, someone reprimanded me for not shopping at home and supporting our economy. My blood boiled for a good 12 hours as I usually do most of my shopping at home but I have a school budget for school supplies and I wanted to get the best deal. I felt the comment was EXTREMELY unneccesary.

I've been working on getting The Baby on a schedule for daycare. Easier than I expected.

I traded my single Medela Swing for my friend's double Ameda Purely Yours thinking it would save me some pumping time. WRONG! I will be getting my Medela back!

There's a woman in my area getting Zumba certified. FINALLY!!!! Thanks Vicki! (Vicki's a stalker and she found my secret blog.) Tee hee, just kidding Vicki....kinda. ;)

I've lost a few followers lately. That could be contributed to the fact that I've been slacking this summer with the posts. I'm trying to be better.

We're headed to the in-laws tonight for their county fair and then spending the weekend at the lake with my family. Pretty sure we've only been home one weekend this entire summer.

After over a year of NO alone time with my husband, I've planned a weekend getaway for next weekend!

Things have been tough lately. In the last year, we've moved twice, had a baby, and he's been working two hours away most weeks. I've pretty much been a single mom for the last 9 months.

My first thought was to go to an amusement park. We love roller coasters and it's always a fun time, but Hubby didn't want to do that. He actually wanted to go to a baseball game and I was thankful the weekend we planned didn't have a home game.

So, we're getting a couples massage!!!! Does that sound like heaven or what?

Mommy guilt is a little unsettling as this is the first time I'll be leaving The Baby and it's an overnighter, and the day after we get back is when she starts daycare full-time.

I've been having a rough time. My happy pills don't even seem to be working. I'm wondering if people are allowed to have a bad few weeks or if I should up my dose. A weekend away is EXACTLY what Hubby and I need!

I might even treat myself to a pedicure this week.

It was just like the scene from Caddy Shack, but this time, it wasn't a candy bar.

My hometown has had a heck of a time with their swimming pool. They built a new one last year and it was constructed so poorly they weren't able to open it this summer because of so many problems.

They ended up making some temporary fixes in July to open it for the rest of the summer and scheduled a big grand opening with free swimming.

The kids and I were in town that weekend so my mom and I got ready to take the kids to the pool. When we got there at 3:00 it was closed. We later found out that after it had been open for one hour a kid POOPED in the pool! Due to sanitation reasons they had to close.

How "stinkin" hilarious is that? Well only hilarious because I wasn't in the pool.

...because I'm going to kill my husband. And collecting on the life insurance would be an added bonus as well.

Hubby was gone all last week. On Thursday I decided to do some freezer cooking so we would have some meals on hand. He always complains we have nothing to eat so I thought it would make him happy to have some nice meals.

He comes home on Thursday nights when he has to work out of town and he's pretty much worthless. He complains about being tired and wanting to relax. Um....I've been caring for your 3 children all week by myself. I am tired and would like to relax too.

I admit, I got in a little over my head with the cooking. I got 5 recipes from Once A Month Mom and each of them makes 4 meals. That's a lot to make in one evening. So when Hubby came home, I had pasta scorching on the stove, the oven timer beeping, food that needed to be taken out of the oven, chicken frying and splattering, and a baby screaming. The kitchen was A M.E.S.S.

I welcome Hubby home and ask him to tend to the screaming baby. He picks her up, and giving no effort of calming her down, says she needs me. Then he proceeds to yell at me for starting something like this on a Thursday night. Well maybe I thought I could get some help when you got home!!!!! But heck no, Hubby's "tired and wants to relax." Why would I expect such a thing?

The entire weekend was the same. He complained when I went to the store and wouldn't take the baby. Why in the heck would I take the baby? You're home sitting on your arse watching TV. He lectured me on laundry when one pair of his khakis were too wrinkled to wear and his other pair had been sitting in the washing machine for a day. He got mad because I didn't water the grass right, and the list goes on.

I'll spare you the details of today's pointless spat, but it ended with me hanging up on him in a rage and ignoring the 6 times he called back after that to yell at me for hanging up on him.

Sometimes it's hard to remember why you love someone so much.

Our theater showed this as a matinee last week. Without going into details, I missed quite a bit of the movie between girl 1 and girl 2. But from what I saw, it was good. I thought there were a few parts that were a little scary for smaller children. Raven was scared a few times, but the kids really liked it. What was more impressive, were the theater booster seats. I totally didn't know they made those. Brilliant!

God has revealed His plan! I interviewed on Monday for a 1st and 2nd grade teaching position in a Christian school and they called yesterday and offered me the job!!!!!

I am beyond ecstatic! I get to combine my two loves of teaching and Jesus! How awesome is that?

Better yet, my kids get FREE tuition!

I am going to be Otter's teacher. Not sure how I feel about that yet. :)

On July 3 Hubby and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. Although I don't know if "celebrated" is the right word. "Acknowledged" probably fits better. One of these days we'll do something special...

My MIL made our BEAUTIFUL wedding cake. It was Funfetti, my fave. She makes the best cake in the entire world. It melts in your mouth. Literally. We saved the top tier for our one year anniversary and I ate the whole thing by myself in one day.

I've read that married couples feed each other a piece of wedding cake to symbolize the fact that the bride and groom should help, support and provide for each other throughout their marriage.

Ya! A flippin cracked nipple! How the heck does that happen after you've been breastfeeding for SEVEN months? Here's how it went down....

Last Thursday while breastfeeding: "That's weird. This hurts a little."

Friday: "Ya something's wrong. This hurts."

Saturday: "OWIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Saturday night: "Shoot me in the face. Now please." Called hospital pain was so bad. They said I needed to come to ER because I wouldn't be able to make it until Monday. I had a flippin yeast infection. Got drugs.

Tuesday: Better but drugs gone and pain coming back. Head to doctor. Mastitis. Well isn't that fan flippin tabulous?

Seriously, I would rather go through childbirth than go through that again.

I spent all day in bed yesterday with a fever, headache, sore throat, and aches so bad the tips of my fingers hurt. My poor kids watched TV for like 10 hours straight. Supermom I am not. I will be staying in bed when I feel like shit thank you very much.

I ran out of Juice Plus so didn't take it for a couple weeks and look what happens to me.

Feeling revived today. Even felt up to blogging which hasn't been a priority lately as you may have noticed. Now onto laundry. And possible a shower...

She's Out of My League: An average Joe meets the perfect woman, but his lack of confidence and the influence of his friends and family begin to pick away at the relationship. R

I was really expecting this to be one of those supposed to be funny but not funny movies, but I actually liked it. I wasn't rolling on the ground laughing or anything, but there were some funny parts. The language was as to be expected for a movie like this. The story line was actually pretty good. I would recommend it, but if you don't like it don't blame me. :)

The week started out with Hubby slicing his finger at work. His co-workers made him go to the ER, where he got 4 stitches. He was a farm boy growing up and has had his share of accidents, including breaking all limbs (not at one time) and this was the FIRST TIME he's ever had stitches. Although not the first time he's NEEDED stitches.

My kids are driving me bonkers. I need a mommy day all to myself, or a month, whatever.

I bought Raven a $1 pair of flip flops and she got shin splints! Bad. She limps around and can't go up or down stairs. It sucks.

Otter has lost 2 pairs of goggles in one week. I will not be buying more. I got his at Dollar General for $1. The EXACT same goggles were at Pamida for $3.29. What's up with that?

Otter got up this morning and decided to make himself a pb&j. He told me he just used a spoon since he's not allowed to use knives. What a sweetie. {Btw that was his ONLY sweet moment this week.} He jumped off the counter and his shirt caught on the cupboard and ripped. He thought I would be mad. I was just thankful he didn't hang himself.

The Baby is teething...or something and she's been super fussy this week. I'm seriously about ready to lose my mind.

I put The Baby in her high chair this morning and ~~went and got on my computer~~ started doing laundry and cleaning the house. She started crying and when I went to check on her my poor baby was hanging upside down from her high chair!!!! Thank GOD I buckled her in because sometimes I don't! She stopped crying the moment I picked her up but nothing like that to get the morning started off right....

My best friend and her fam came to see us yesterday. Raven was loving on Their First (that's what I'm calling their baby) and she NEVER did that with The Baby. When Hubby asked who were favorite was she pointed to Their First. What the heck?

I ate a lotta beans last night. Do I need to explain where I'm going with this?

We were supposed to take a weekend trip to the zoo and do some shopping. Forget that. We're keeping our butts planted right here. I'm exhausted.

experience of a lifetime: a birth story

I don't know if I'll ever be ready to write this post, as there are really no words to describe the amazing experience of helping with the delivery of my best friend's baby. But I suppose I'll do the best I can.

At one point in her pregnancy I told my best friend Sarah I would be willing to be on "back-up" for her hubby in the delivery room. Ryan is what I like to call a little bit of a wussy when it comes to bodily fluids, and I didn't want her to be alone if he went down. :)

The more we talked about it, the more they were considering having me in the delivery room regardless of how he was doing. On D Day they still hadn't decided so I remained on backup.

Ryan called to have me bring some things they forgot to the hospital. When I got there her contractions had died down a bit so I said I'd stay and keep them company for a while, and instructed them to kick me out whenever they felt the need. Our main topic of conversation was the baby's middle name because they hadn't decided on one yet.

It ended up working out nicely. I went and got lunch for Ryan and ran some errands for them and I stayed with Sarah if Ryan wanted a break. During contractions I would massage her back and rub her legs, and in between I would massage her feet. When contractions got worse I read her some verses over and over that she had printed out for delivery. By the time the nurse came in with the deliver room waiver for Ryan to sign, Sarah wanted me to sign it too.

I was super excited I was going to be a part of this amazing miracle! After that point Sarah wouldn't allow me to leave her. I told her I would go get her camera in the car for when the baby came, and she yelled, "NO DON'T LEAVE ME!" It was nice to feel so needed. :)

We all worked together like it had been planned to a T. Sarah did absolutely great and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. I bawled my eyes out. Ryan did amazing as well. I must say I was really surprised he hung in there and did as great as he did.

They still hadn't decided on a middle name when I left that night.

When I came back the next morning I asked if they had decided. Sarah started crying. She told me they couldn't have done it without me. I started crying. I told her they could have. She said that Ryan and her decided to give their baby girl my middle name.

There are no words.

I have a new found respect for my husband. I would get so angry when he was moping around the day after I pushed a baby out of me, saying HE was exhausted. Well let me tell you, it IS exhausting! I took a 4 hour nap the day after Sarah's delivery and it took me a while to recover! There are just so many emotions involved and it really is exhausting for the coach. So remember that ladies before you castrate your husbands when they complain about being tired after delivery. :)

The Hurt Locker: Iraq. Forced to play a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse in the chaos of war, an elite Army bomb squad unit must come together in a city where everyone is a potential enemy and every object could be a deadly bomb. R

I had never heard of this movie before it won Best Picture at the Oscars. I had never heard of Slumdog Millionaire before it won Best Picture either, and it was great, so I figured this one would be too. WRONG! It was awful. Hubby and I about shut it off several times, but we kept thinking it had to get better. Wrong again. It was the slowest moving movie I've ever seen. The scenes were really long and most of them left me wondering what the hell the point even was. In conclusion, no, I wouldn't recommend this movie, but obviously there are several who disagree.

I was planning on participating in Shell's Pour Your Heart Out today about helping with the birth of my BFF's first baby. However putting it into words is a little harder than I thought and I need another week. :)

So now on to What I Meant to Say!

I have this horrible habit of blurting things out in the middle of nowhere and expecting people to know what the flip I'm talking about. It drives Hubby CRAZY! "Am I supposed to be able to read your mind?!" Well yes sweet Hubby, of course you should be able to read my mind. It's practically your sole purpose in life.

Anyhoo, a prime example happened the other day. My sister called when I was at the store. We were chit chatting and I say:

"Did you know our family makes an alternative to life?"

Um, maybe I should have said:

"I'm grocery shopping. Did you know that the Our Family brand makes an alternative to Life cereal?"

But get this. It took her a second, but my marvelous sister actually figured out what I was talking about before I had to tell her. What a sister. She does the exact same thing. We can practically finish each other's sentences. Love her.

I mentioned yesterday that my BFF had a baby on Sunday, we'll call her Peas. Her friend we will call Carrots.

Peas was home-schooled. So was Carrots.

After school they lived together for a year and became best friends.

Carrots got married. Peas got married.

Their husbands are brothers.

So now they are sisters-in-law.

They both had "5 year plans" which ended up lasting 7 or 8.

They grew apart over the years, but remained friends.

Peas miscarried her untold pregnancy.

A month later, Carrots miscarried her untold pregnancy.

Crazy.

It took Peas another year to get pregnant.

As it did Carrot. Their due dates were 2 weeks apart, Peas was due first.

Crazy.

Now keep in mind they were not AT ALL planning anything together. In fact Carrots was afraid to tell Peas she was pregnant since she didn't know Peas was also pregnant.

They live in a small town. 1 hospital, 1 delivery room, 3 doctors. They both used the same doctor.

He decides to take off the weekend after Peas' due date. Great.

Peas had contractions for 3 days before she went into active labor. When she got to the hospital, Carrots had been there for 9 hours. Carrots wasn't due for another 2 weeks.

So here we have 2 sisters-in-law in labor at the same time. Their doctor is out of town.

Crazy.

Skipping some more crazy details, Peas had her baby girl 4 hours after Carrots had her baby boy.

Cousins born on the same day.

1. If you could go back to college would you change your major? Or, if you were to go to college right now...what major would you choose?

I don't think I would change, but if I would it would be nursing. Unfortunately needles give me the heebs and blood makes me queasy. So ya I don't think that would work out.

2. What do you love most about your home?

It was "move-in ready". There are some projects we'd like to do eventually but nothing you have to look at every day and think, "ugh we need to fix that, ugh that's ugly, ugh that's crappy." It's in perfect shape and it was a steal of a deal! We'll have it paid off in no time! Woohoo!

3. What types of books do you like to read (if you like to read at all)?

I just got back into reading last year and I love it! Right now I'm reading the 2010 NY Times #1 Bestseller books. I'm also working on the Twilight series. I've read all of Nicholas Sparks' books and I love them all.

4. What is the grossest thing you've ever eaten?

5. If you HAD to be a character on a TV show, whom would you be?

Rebecca on Full House, although I admit a full house would be annoying sometimes, but their attic apartment was pretty awesome I thought. I mean come on, who wouldn't want to be a part of the Full House family?

To Raven, for crying in the middle of the night and crawling into my bed and PEEING in it, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I didn't have the mattress cover on (ya know from the last time you peed on it) and now my precious $3500 Tempurpedic bed has urine in it.

To myself, for being an idiot and not taking her to the bathroom, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I know the only reason she wakes up crying is because she has to pee. Where was my brain?

To Hubby, for yelling at ME and dropping the F-bomb 2 too many times, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Like it's MY fault that SHE peed in the bed. Okay so maybe I could have taken her to the bathroom and maybe I could've put the mattress cover on and maybe I could've taken her back to her own bed, but you could have done all of the above too!

To Otter, for peeing in YOUR bed too, {What the heck?} THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Looks like pee sheet laundry day today!!!

Maybe we should watch the fluids.

Shrek Forever After: Rumpelstiltskin tricks a mid-life crisis burdened Shrek into allowing himself to be erased from existence and cast in a dark alternate timeline where Rumpel rules supreme. PG

I've heard great things about this movie and we were so excited to see it. I'll be honest. I wasn't incredibly impressed. It was good. but not THAT good. A bit of advice. Do NOT see it in 3D. It costs extra and it totally wasn't worth it at all. No special effects whatsoever and those glasses got really annoying. I would definitely recommend the movie cause c'mon, it's Shrek, but don't expect a whole lot. I hardly laughed at all. Donkey wasn't even that funny which was really disappointing. Otter laughed a lot so maybe they used more kid humor this time that was beyond my realm. Hubby really liked it. The movie actually teaches a great lesson and it's a great ending to a great story.

Okay, I'm taking a slightly different direction today because I simply have to discuss the finale of Grey's. This one is being added to season finales that left my heart racing.

Was it WHOA or was it WHOA? Ya, it was definitely WHOA. My heart was still racing an hour after it was over. I was literally shaking the whole show.

I.N.T.E.N.S.E.

Hubby and I were watching it through our computer via TV. At one point he accidently hit the mouse and clicked it off. I was yelling and jumping around like a mad woman to "GET IT BACK ON GET IT BACK FOR ALL THAT IS HOLY GET IT BACK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I believe Hubby may have told me I was ~~a flippin crazy PSYCHO~~ a little too involved more than once. He may have also said, "It's only a TV show. Calm down."

SPOILER ALERT!

When Mr. Clark shot Reed. O.M.G. That's what I said too. Out loud. O.M.G.

When he pulled Bailey out from under the bed.

When he shot Derek and I absolutely thought there was no way he would be able to survive a shot in the chest. {And was secretly hoping for the metal object in the shirt pocket blocks the bullet scenario.} I was yelling at Meredith and Christina to "GO GET THE FLIPPIN COPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I was yelling at the dumb ass SWAT team too. What the heck? Is that really how they handle situations because they SUCKED.

When Christina operates on Derek. {She's so kick ass by the way.}

When Owen walks in and Mr. Clark has a gun to Christina's head but she won't stop operating. {Have I mentioned that she is so kick ass?}

When Meredith tells him to shoot her.

When he shoots Owen.

When they make us think Derek DIES.

When Meredith nonchalantly says, "I'm having a miscarriage" and goes about her duties like it's nothing.

Ya.

Intense.

On another note, enough with Callie and Arizona already. Seriously. If I have to watch them make out one more time....

medela swing breatpump review

As many of you know, I've dealt with some breastfeeding struggles with the kids. The Baby has been my only successful breastfeeding relationship and it has been wonderful! She's almost 6 months and I'm still exclusively breastfeeding and loving every minute of it!

Since I don't work {for pay} there aren't many times I need to be away from The Baby, but I wanted a decent pump to store milk so I would have a back-up plan in case something came up. Ya know, if hubby and I wanted to go on a date night, or if I wanted some time to myself for more than a few hours. Has that ever happened you ask? Well....no. But I suppose it could now that I have a pump.

I originally wanted a double pump, but The Medela Swing single pump definitely gets the job done for me. In fact, my friend is a full-time working mom and she has a single Medela breastpump that she swears by! She said she can get more milk in the same amount of time with her single Medela pump than her co-workers can with other brand double pumps.

I'll be honest. I personally thought there really couldn't be that big of a difference between breastpumps. THERE IS!

The Medela Swing's massaging SoftFit™ breastshield is SO comfortable. Many other pumps have the hard plastic and the SoftFit was definitely a pleasant experience. The pump features 2-Phase Expression technology which allows you to switch pumping phases at let-down to get more milk in less time. And of course all parts that come into contact with breastmilk are BPA-free.

The pump has different suction settings as well. AND BOY DOES IT SUCK! With the other pumps I've used there hasn't been enough suction. With the Swing I couldn't even use it on the highest suction because it was too powerful.

The pump is small and super easy to tote around. It comes with a drawstring bag to keep everything clean and in one place between pumpings. It's been convenient to be able to pump milk for The Baby's cereal without assembling, disassembling, and cleaning 92 parts.

I definitely recommend the Medela Swing, and any product by Medela for that matter. When I first started the title was Procrastination...and then some. It was a little too long and it just wasn't doing it for me. I was thinking something like Whoopsy Daisies. I had just read a book about being a messie, and decided that was a better fit. I was going to call it Mommy the Messie or Messie Mommy but I simplified and went with Messy Mommy.

What is your definition of success?
happiness and contentment {and failing sometimes is necessary}

If you were famous, what would you want to be famous for?
I would want to be a famous author. Like Nicholas Sparks famous. That way you still get to hit the red carpet when your books become movies but the paparazzi isn't too obsessed with you.

I didn't care for this movie. I read the book and it was written very well but I didn't like the Godless heaven. I know it's only a movie but the sad Godless heaven really bothered me. It makes dying super depressing. Hubby didn't really enjoy it either. In fact it probably wouldn't have even been a movie I was interested in except I had read the book and therefore had to watch the movie. And frankly I would just like to remain in my little bubble and believe that there really aren't psychos out there who are capable of doing such a horrible thing.

Not feeling too fragmenty today.

A while back I made a couple tutus for the girls and 5 people asked if they could order one! I then had a childhood friend tell me her and her husband are interested in them for their photography business. She wants me to bring some tutus and the girls for a complimentary session! WOOHOO!!!!

Now a little 5QF:

Hubby and I are in desperate need of a date night, but let's face it, girls' night out is just more fun. Bring it on!

God has another plan

The following was written yesterday.

I just got the call. "I wanted to let you know that we have chosen another candidate. You had a great interview."

I didn't get the job.

My interview ROCKED. I was sure it was in the bag.

Originally I had wanted to take another year off. When this job came up I wasn't going to apply. I eventually decided to put it in God's hands. I'd apply and let Him decide.

He decided.

And that was the plan.

So why do I feel so darn crappy?

Like a failure?

Like I'm not good enough?

Like I'm never going to get a job if that interview didn't land me a job?

Why am I sad?

I get to spend more time with my kids. And that's really what I want. Right?

But I was SO confident the job was mine.

Make this yucky feeling go away.

Today

It's amazing what one day can do. I'm feeling at peace with the decision that was made. I had the most wonderful day with my girls and realized I was taking my time with them for granted.

Not only did God not want me to get the job, he wanted to teach me a lesson in humility. Everything I've ever tried out for I've gotten. Cheerleading, show choir, dance team, other jobs. I don't know what it's like to "lose", and it was tough.

Home is where God wants me to be right now, and I'm okay with that.

Ya, so I would probably keep breathing without them, but I may not want to.

Greatest. Invention. Ever. Suctioning The Baby's nose is practically the highlight of my day. It's oddly satisfying.

We love binks around here. She'll take any of em, including the ones from Dollar General that are like 50 cents a piece. SCORE!

The Bumbo is probably the second greatest invention ever. Love it.

Baby got gas? These rock.

They're cheap and they work. Trust me, this is coming from the mom who only changes diapers a couple times a day. If that.

Car seat toy bar. Makes for entertaining travel.

I don't jog, but once you've owned a jogging stroller you'll never go back. You can practically push it with one finger. It takes no exercise at all.

I'll admit it. I'm not much of a babywearer, but when I do, the Babyhawk is my carrier of choice.

A little before shots, and the screaming seems to be less.

Have you ever tried taking a screaming baby's temp under the arm for 82 minutes? It sucks.

The big interview is today. Prayers please! I know it's a kind gesture, but before you wish me luck, you might wanna see how I feel about that. But if you wish me luck anyway, I'll know you mean well.

I scored a $50 interview outfit for $10 at a second hand store. Woot Woot.

I also got a NWT $32 Gymboree outfit, pants from Express, an American Eagle shirt, a pair of heels, and 2 dress shirts all for $40. Wa-Bam!

It took me 10 years to perfect avoiding the rumble bars on the highway. I'm pretty proud of that accomplishment.

When you're talking about DWTS, you should say Dancing with the Stars, it has less syllables than DWTS.

Top baby names are currently Isabella and Jacob. Twilight much? TEAM EDWARD!

immunizations controversy

Before I start, I realize this is a HIGHLY controversial subject. We all do what we think is best for OUR children, please do not take offense!

When my first two kids were born, the thought of not getting immunizations had never occurred to me. I did what I was told to do and left it at that.

When Otter was diagnosed with Doose Syndrome {a VERY rare type of childhood epilepsy} I found that some other parents whose children had Doose thought it was caused by immunizations. I know some people think this is an issue with autism as well.

Do I think that immunizing my child gave him epilepsy? No. But could it have? Maybe. We'll most likely never know. I tend to be a research Nazi. This is something I've chosen not to research. It's just too controversial and I don't want to be doubting myself all the time. When I was pregnant with The Baby I went back and forth trying to decide what to do.

For me, it has never been about choosing not to immunize, but choosing to hold off and not do so many so fast.

My dad's cousin is a nurse in a free clinic. I talked to her about it. She said if you would see the things she has seen, you would never choose not to immunize your children.

Now here's the part where I might piss some of you off. I believe the reason why some parents can choose not to immunize their children, is because of those of us who choose to immunize ours. So many people preach about not immunizing, but if we all stopped, then all these diseases would start killing our children. I do, however, agree that it may be too many too fast, but I suppose I'll leave that up to the professionals.

I came across this post a while back. A precious little 2 month old baby died of Pertussis, aka Whooping Cough. The P in DTaP. He wasn't even old enough to receive the vaccine before he contracted the sickness.

As for the flu shots, I haven't really decided. We all got them this year since I was pregnant, but I don't know if we'll get them again. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

All in all, it's about personal preference. I disagree with moms telling me I shouldn't immunize my children. Let us make our own decisions. I don't judge you, don't judge me. Like I said, we do what we think is best for our own children. As for me, I'll stick to the book.

{Please do not leave comments about the dangers of immunizations and why I shouldn't immunize my children. This is how I feel and I don't need to doubt myself any more than I already have. Thank you.}

baby shower success and top ten

My bff's baby shower was a smashing success. I received a ton of compliments and it really couldn't have gone any better. Yay me! Here are some pix of the lovely event. I made the diaper cakes and won all the favors {cake toppers} and bottle cookies from My Precious Arrival.

And now for my Top Ten!

I'll admit it. I LOVE shower games. Thankfully my Mommy-to-be does too, so we had tons of fun. The top four are the ones we played, but I love all of these and it was super hard to choose! I had the guests sign a scrapbook page as they came in. Another great thing to do at showers is to give each guest a thank-you card envelope and have them write their address on it so Mommy-to-be doesn't have to!

1. Matching: Give the guests a paper with baby names on one side and their meanings on the other and have them match the name to it's meaning. Can also do the same thing with the word baby in different languages and the countries it comes from. I gave these to the guests as they came in and they worked on it while they chatted and ate.

2. Baby Shower Poem: Give the poem to one of the guests and have them read the first line. Each person that receives the poem thereafter must read the next number and follow its instructions. The person who ends up with the poem gets a prize.

3. Baby Gift Bingo: As the guests arrive number each gift. Give each guest a square card with 4 or 5 squares across and down and have them fill the squares with the numbers of the gifts. Have the Mommy-to-be announce the number of each gift as she opens it. The first guest to get a Bingo wins a prize. They LOVED this one! It was a great way to keep them involved as the gift opening can get boring.

4. Never Say Baby: Give each guest a beaded necklace and explain that they aren't allowed to say the word "baby" during the shower and whoever hears it from a guest takes that guest's beads. The guest who winds up with the most necklaces at the end wins a prize.

5. Clever Memory: Have Mommy-to-be walk around and show a tray filled with baby items to each guest. They will begin to try to memorize what's on it. Then have Mommy-to-be leave the room and tell the guests to write down what she was wearing, NOT what was on the tray! Bwaahahahahahaha.

6. Napkin Baby Shirt: Give each baby shower guest a napkin and have them hold it behind their back and make a baby shirt by tearing the best they can. Once they take the napkin from behind their back, they cannot do anything else. Have Mommy-to-be decide who made the best napkin shirt.

7. Decorate Wooden Letters and/or Onesies: If you know what the baby's name will be, have each guest paint/decorate a wooden letter from the baby's name to hang in the nursery. The other guests can paint/decorate onesies.

8. Blindfold Diapering: Break the guests into teams and give each team a doll, blindfold and diapers. Have guests place the blindfold on, take the current diaper off the doll and place the new one on while blindfolded. After the first guest finshes diapering, they run to the next team-mate who places the blindfold on and has to do the same. The first team to finish diapering wins!

9. The Pacifier Pass: Break up into 2 teams have everyone stand in a line facing the person in front of them. Have the guests put their straws in their mouths and put a pacifier on the first guests' straws. They then have to pass the pacifier to the next person by letting the pacifier slide down their straw on to the other person's straw with no hands or other contact. Everyone on the team passes the pacifier from straw to straw. First team done wins.

10. Guess the Baby Pictures: Ask for everyone's baby pictures prior to the baby shower. Have all the pictures in a collage and have the guests write down who they think the pictures belong to.

Hannah Montana: As Hannah Montana's popularity begins to take over her life, Miley Stewart, on the urging from her father takes a trip to her hometown of Crowley Corners, Tennessee to get some perspective on what matters in life the most. G.

So I'm not a big Hannah Montana fan, and therefore opted out of seeing this movie in theaters. A few friends that went actually said they enjoyed it and it got me curious. I saw it was on Netflix Watch Instantly so decided to watch it with the kids. It was actually pretty darn good. It wasn't totally realistic, like people wouldn't recognize you if you put on a wig? Please. Otter didn't understand the whole second identity thing. He remained quite confused the whole time and kept asking questions I apparently didn't have good answers to. We watched it a second time with Hubby who actually liked it! I would recommend it. It really changed my view on Miley Cyrus and I'm really looking forward to seeing The Last Song now. But if you do watch it, prepare to have some catchy tunes in your head for a good week or so. {la la}Boom boom clap, boom de clap de clap. Boom boom clap, boom de clap de clap. {la la}

Mama Dub almost died due to complications after her son's birth. This powerful birth story is taken from her blog, {with her permission of course} and it's an AMAZING story! Please take the time to read it.

I have prayed continuously the last few days that God would give me the exact words to share our story accurately without trivializing or exaggerating any particular event. I want to be able to share my testimony and to be able to express our gratitude for the constant prayers. I'm not sure how I would have made it through without them. The outpouring of love and kindness from all over the world have touched our lives forever and we couldn't be more grateful for each and everyone of you.

It all started on Thursday morning, Sept 3rd. I had a Dr. appointment with the OB that morning so that we could talk about our options, as Baby K was already a week over due. Knowing that we were going to talk about our options (and one of them was being sent to the hospital that day) Mr. Dubs and I loaded the car with everything we thought we would need for the hospital. I had packed everything well in advance so I knew we would be prepared. We got to the Dr and they performed a sonogram to evaluate the placenta and the fluid levels. The fluid levels were great but the Placenta, not so much. The placenta had begun to calcify, so much that it was not going to continue to function properly too much longer. After the sonogram we were moved into a room to talk with the Dr. The nurse took my blood pressure and realized that it was higher than normal. Up until this point I had no issues with blood pressure. When the Dr. came in with the results of the sonogram she made the decision to send us to the hospital to have my water broken. (Note: I was 4cm dilated and 100% effaced for 5 weeks). Her theory is: It's better to take the baby while it's strong and healthy and can endure the labor, vs. waiting until it's possible too weak and can result in an unnecessary C-Section. We agreed, so we headed for the hospital to have our son. The day could not have been more exciting.

Once to the hospital (11am) we were admitted to Labor and Delivery. I changed into my comfy clothes and got ready for the fun to begin. B Dubs and I were beside ourselves with excitement. We were finally going to get to meet our son. At noon the Dr. came in and broke my water. She said that my contractions would begin soon. Dubs and I hit the hallways... walking and waiting. We made it around the L&D floor 4-5 times before I needed to get back to the room. The contractions were coming every 10-15 seconds and they were lasting about 90 seconds each (and I wasn't even to the transition stage). They were not in my tummy or in my back, but rather in my tailbone area. With every contraction it felt as if my tailbone was going to break (keep in mind that Baby K was posterior- backwards). Mr. Dubs and I tried all of the relaxation techniques that we learned but they were not providing any relief. The contractions were coming too frequent and too strong. The Dr. couldn't figure out why my Uterus was being so "strange". After about 3 hours of continuous contractions I finally gave in to the epidural (3pm). After getting the epidural I dilated from 5cm to 7cm in an hour. Since the contractions were still very "abnormal" they wanted to put in an internal monitor. Not the kind they attached to the baby, but the kind that they sit next to the baby to monitor the contractions. The Dr. did an internal exam to make sure that everything was set to insert the monitor and realized that I was already 9cm dilated. Since that was the case, she was unable to insert the monitor (as it would not have stayed in place). I began pushing at 5:30pm. Everything went great, except for the fact that I ended up with a 4th degree tear, the worst you can get. Ouchy!

The best news: K Baby was born at 6:37pm. He weighed in at 10lbs and was 22 1/4 inches long.

They put him on my chest and Mr Dubs and I cried our tears of joy. It wasn't but a few minutes after I had Baby K that I began to feel "distant". I'm not sure that is the best word to describe the feeling, but I knew something was wrong. As the Dr. began sewing me up (which took about an hour and a half) I heard her talking to another Dr about blood loss. I am still not able to recall to much about this time but I do remember Daddy Dubs bringing Baby K over to me all bundled up, and laying him next to me. I fell asleep and never got to enjoy my baby. The Doctors were in and out of the room checking on me. I remember asking them when I was going to be moved to the recovery room and they told me they needed to monitor me for a while longer. I was confused. After a few hours of "monitoring" and Baby K laying next to me while I was resting, I was fading away and no one around me knew it.

My mother and B Dubs had remained in the room to look after me and Baby K and to make sure that all was well until we were moved to another room. Good thing they did. Around 10pm I mustered up enough energy to call out to B Dubs to come and get Baby K from my side. I then began calling out " Mommy, help me". My mom knew something was off because she said that I haven't called her 'mommy' since I was about 3 years old. I then started yelling to B Dubs and my mother that I was going to pass out. As B Dubs ran into the hallways to get help, my mother hit the Nurse Call button on the bed. Originally I thought that I pushed the button but they later told me I was seizing. When they answered I just remember whispering, "Help me, Help me, Help me" - my mother took over from there. I passed out about 3 seconds later. I later found out that 8-9 Doctors were in the room within 2-3 minutes after I called. They put oxygen on me and I woke up for a brief moment to pure chaos. My mother was asked to leave the room and they took Baby K to the Nursery.

At this point my blood pressure had dropped to 80/50. It was then that they realized I was hemorrhaging internally. One of the Doctors began kneading my stomach from the INSIDE and the OUSIDE. It was by far the most excruciating pain I have ever been through in my life. I remember asking to hold someone's hand and B Dub stepped up to the plate. The Doctors were amazing and allowed him to be by my side when I needed him most. They just worked around him when they could. Since the pain was so unbearable and my blood pressure was so low I fell in and out of consciousness for hours. Every time I woke I remember them talking about blood loss. When I was able to open my eyes I remember seeing them pull blood clots out the size of oranges. Blood was everywhere. I soaked all of the hospital towels they had on L&D and they were getting towels from other floors. (This is a HUGE hospital too). B Dubs was completely traumatized but stayed strong and stayed by my side the entire time. At one point they did have to make him sit down and eat/drink something. He was getting weak. After 2 hours of medication, 2 pints of blood and kneading the uterus to make it contract they had to rush me to the OR for emergency surgery. B Dubs gave the consent to remove my uterus, as that was the only thing that would save my life.

At the time they rushed me into the OR my blood pressure was progressively dropping. Even before they got me into the OR my blood pressure had dropped to 50/20. Unfortunately, because my blood pressure was dropping so rapidly and the blood loss was so significant they weren't able to give me much anesthesia and therefore I was awake during surgery. Obviously because the pain was so intense and I was so weak from blood loss, I was still falling in and out of consciousness during the surgery. I remember them moving me from one bed to another. I even remember them having to readjust me a few times. I remember them putting the drape across (just like you would see in a c-section). I then remember them inserting an IV in my left wrist. Because my veins had collapsed the IV inadvertently put the blood and fluids into my muscle and not into my bloodstream leaving me with a nice BIG bruise on my left arm.

I recall yelling at the Doctors that my arm was on fire and felt like it was burning. At that point I heard that doctor yell to another doctor that I should not be awake and to do something about it. After that I recall the incision being made on my abdomen and being held open with some sort of clamp device. I remember the tugging and pulling sensations as they removed my uterus. I was later told that had it not been for the epidural (which was still in place) I would have felt the whole thing.

During the surgery I was resuscitated a total of 3 times, each of them I remember. For days afterwards when I closed my eyes I would feel the sensation of the resuscitation (like my body was jolting). I had a Central Line put in (a tube in my neck that goes straight to my heart) and I received 12 pints of blood. 12 Pints of blood equals a 110% blood transfusion (meaning I even lost blood that I received). It was by far the scariest time of my life.

All this while Mr Dubs and our families were in the Family Waiting room waiting for an update. The surgery took approx. 3 hours to complete. I can't imagine the torture that my family had to endure...waiting to see if I lived (as they were told I probably wouldn't make it).

After Surgery I was put in ICU for 3 days and then moved to the Labor and Delivery Recovery floor. It was on this floor that I took a turn for the worse. Because of the surgery and mass blood loss my bowel system had gone to sleep. I began to get distended and was unable to hold down any food or fluid. In sparing personal details the bowel system had a mind of it's own and I had no control for approx 48 hours. I would vomit uncontrollably and suffered through endless hours of clean up. Because the nurses were not used to seeing a patient in this condition they weren't sure how to help me, as this was not their specialty. After much consideration the Doctors made the decision I needed an NG (Nasogastric) Tube. The tube went in through my noes and down to my stomach. The first attempt they missed my stomach and had to redo it. Again, this was a very painful procedure and if I ever needed again they would have to knock me out to put it in. I don't think that I could handle that pain again now that I know what it feels like. Once I had the NG Tube I was taken off of all fluids/foods. I couldn't even swallow a sip of water. Not one! For 5 days I starved physically, though I was being fed TPN through the IV for 2 of them. The TPN gave me the nutrients I needed to stay alive but he hunger pains were unbearable.

On day 7 I was able to get out of bed for the first time. My muscles had begun the process of deteriorating (it's amazing how quickly this occurs), therefore it was very difficult to stand, life my head, etc. They were slowly able to remove some of the IV's and on day 8 I had the NG tube removed. The Central Line was the last to go on day 9 and I was able to shower and clean up for the first time in what felt like months.

I had the will to walk, heal and get better and no one was going to stop me. I had a family that needed me to get better. K Baby needed his mommy and B Dubs needed his wife. Though we won't ever be able to have any more children, we are extremely thankful that God has blessed us with each other, K Baby and LIFE!

It was a long process to get to where I am today but by the Grace of God and the constant prayers I am healing quickly and the recovery has been extremely fast considering the turn of events. Mr. Dubs and I still have many years of healing and recovering ahead of us, more emotionally than physically, but we are so thankful for the outcome during this life changing experience. We have the most beautiful, well-behaved, healthy and loving son. He completed our family and we are looking forward to all of the fun filled years ahead. Thank you again for the prayers. God most definitely heard you. He has a plan for my life, that is very apparent and I can't wait to see how he uses me to glorify Him.

Dear Raven~
I have some fabulous ideas. How about we cut our own hair, that would be fun. Maybe we can eat garlic powder straight from the container and then vomit. I love cleaning up vomit that smells of garlic, let's do it! We could also jump off the couch head first. Who doesn't love a concussion? the baby's inadequate weight gain

I took The Baby in for her 4-month check a couple weeks ago. She only weighed 11 pounds 2 ounces. She was 10 pounds at her 2-month check. She only gained a little over a pound in two months. She went from the 26th percentile to the 4th.

DrM was only slightly concerned because she's doing great otherwise. Developmentally on schedule, happiest baby ever, yatta yatta yatta. He told me to start some cereal and bring her back in a month so he can check her again. If she still isn't gaining well, he wants me to supplement formula.

This made my heart sink! I've written about my breastfeeding struggles with the other two and really thought The Baby and I were getting it. Then this happens, just as I was finally at the point of thinking we were successful in our breastfeeding relationship.

Ever since the beginning I've had to be very aggressive with breastfeeding The Baby. I was always forcing her to eat longer than she really wanted because I was so paranoid about her getting enough. When she hit 2 months and was gaining well, I let her take over. She would never eat for very long at all, but she was happy and content, so I left it at that! So now I'm back to pushing her and it hasn't been easy!

On top of that, she ended up getting sick and was pretty much spitting up everything that went in. Pretty sure she lost some weight, which is just fantabulous.

I tried cereal for a couple days but I read in several places that breastmilk is more fattening than cereal. So why would I replace breastmilk with cereal? She hated it anyway.

Have any suggestions for me?

When we came across this movie on Netflix Watch Instantly, we thought it would be a good one. Who doesn't love monkeys and Joey from Friends, right? WRONG! This movie was HORRIBLE! I didn't even finish watching it was so bad. The chimp isn't even real, it's a costume. Bad acting all around. Don't waste your time on this one!

I spent 11 hours on Wednesday cooking an entire month's worth of food. I came across Once a Month Mom during UBP and you simply HAVE to check her out. My family gets to eat! I cooked! And I liked it! And we have FOOD! MIRACLES MIRACLES ALL AROUND US!

P.S. Don't take three children grocery shopping when you're attempting to buy a month's worth of food. It does NOT work. Thank the Lord I had a friend who could come pick them up from the store before I shelved and sold them myself.

I spent ALL DAY yesterday preparing my application for a teaching position next year.

Our family's going to a dance tonight. And you all know how I feel about dancing. BRING ON THE PARTAY!

Where the Wild Things Are: An adaptation of Maurice Sendak's classic children's story, where Max, a disobedient little boy sent to bed without his supper, creates his own world--a forest inhabited by ferocious wild creatures that crown Max as their ruler. PG

I didn't take my kids to this movie when it was in theaters because I heard from so many that it was scary. I really didn't think it was scary at all. My kids {ages 6 and 3} didn't think it was scary either. Granted, there were a few parts that were a little creepy in a weird sort of way, but nothing that would cause nightmares or anything. I'm wondering if I went into it expecting it to be super scary, so it didn't come off as bad. Kinda like when you expect a movie to be really funny and it turned out to be not as funny as you thought. Expectations can really change a movie outcome! I thought this movie was good for the most part. Otter LOVED it. Raven didn't really care one way or the other.

Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken: This is the story of Sonora Webster, a teenage runaway during the Depression. Her life's ambition is to travel to Atlantic City and become a diving girl. An inspiring true-life adventure of a courageous young rebel who defied the odds...and won. G

This is one of my absolute favorite movies! If you haven't seen it you MUST! It's a beautiful story. I saw that it was on Netflix Watch Instantly so when we got our streaming disc for the Wii this week I thought it would be a good movie that the whole family would enjoy. It actually kept the kids' attention the whole time. LOVE IT!

For Keeps: Darcy and her long-term boyfriend Stan are in their last months of school and already have found places in good colleges. Darcy ends up pregnant and neither of their parents are supportive. PG-13

I had never heard of this movie, but I came across it on Netflix Watch Instantly and decided to give it a try. I always enjoy teen pregnancy movies since I was a pregnant teen. I really liked this movie. It really makes me appreciate our parents for supporting us through my pregnancy and after. I really don't know what we would have done without them! The movie had some good humor in it too.

My baby is sick. My heart just breaks for her she's so miserable.

Btw, I have discovered that while it may be possible for me to survive without sleep, it may not be possible for my husband to survive through my sleep deprivation. Aka, I will kill you. Keep your distance my love.

The Baby only gained 1 pound in 2 months. More on that next week when I pour my heart out with Shell.

Netflix streaming disc for the Wii? It pretty much rocks my socks off. Get it.

Question: Why is it okay to refer to your kids as "the kids" but rude to refer to your kid as "the kid"? Example: "I have to go pick up the kids." vs. "I have to go pick up the kid." See the difference there?

I had a dream that I met Mrs. 4444 IRL. I was so nervous I just stood there and pointed. Luckily she recognized me. Then we were BFFs and played basketball. Ya, my dreams are weird.
