Movie Monday @ Messy Mommy

Shell gave me the idea to go see a movie by myself. I honestly don't think I've ever done that before. Hubby watched the kids and I thoroughly enjoyed my alone time. It's the first time I've ever been away from The Baby! If I wasn't nursing I would've hit The Lovely Bones too. Maybe next week.

Dear John: A romantic drama about a soldier who falls for a conservative college student while he's home on leave.

I must say, I was disappointed. However, the book wasn't my all time fave either so I guess that was to be expected. There were a few differences between the book and the movie that messed things up a little, including slightly different endings. I didn't care for the endings in either. Channing Tatum? Scrumdiddlyumptious.

SPOILER ALERT: Tim being so old in the movie and still marrying Savannah was wacky. In the book they were best friends, in the movie he's her dad's friend. WTH? I figured they'd change it up entirely and have her marry Randy, but I guess that would've been too obvious. I definitely think the movie would've been better if they wouldn't have changed the whole Tim thing. It was slightly disturbing.

Glad you had your time out alone, though!

I totally agree with you on the movie. There was an audible gasp of disgust when they saw who he married. And I don't like either ending.

I have much higher hopes for his The Last Song.

I didn't read the book before seeing this and I was still really disappointed. There were too many similarities to The Notebook-- it was just no where near as good.

I'm already reading The Last Song to prep for the next movie! :)

I read Shell's thoughts too, but I still want to see the movie, just to look at Channing. I didn't get around to reading the book, so I don't have to worry about that.

The first time I went to the movies alone I felt horrible uncomfortable too. But it got easier and it was such a nice escape!!! I'm glad you went!

I've never been to the movies alone. In fact I feel uncomfortable going shopping by myself. Definitely something that I need to get over! I haven't seen this movie or read the book. I just can't get into Nicholas Sparks anymore. He just depresses me. Can he ever have a happy ending?
