LOl.... I had to make a dress in girl scouts for my sewing badge. It was so ugly, I never really did it again. I got a cheap Singer at Walmart, no bells or whistles. It just sews in a somewht straight line.
I can operate a sewing machine if my mom is helping me. I want to take a sewing class at JoAnn's fabrics. You'll get it sooner or later. Maybe check out a Sewing for Dummies book. Seriously. Those books are quite helpful!
Singer is an excellent brand! Go with a basic machine (sometimes they are marked beginner, intermediate, pro). Unless you plan to incorporate embroidery in your work later, you won't need a maching that does that. Think straight stitches, zigzag,...
I'll make a bargaining deal with you...you become my breastfeeding mentor for my next child, and I'll help you with sewing; anything I don't know, my mother will! She has 2 or 3 machines, a serger or two, and an embroidery machine, LOL.
Thats something I always wanted to learn how to do. I made some hair scrunchies when I was like 12 in home ec but couldn't tell ya anything I learned! Good luck!!!

LOL at the last one. I can't sew a button on for my life. Well, I can, but I can't promise that it will stay on.
My mom is a terrible sewer. So now, my MIL gets all my sew jobs. LOL

I wish I knew how to sew. Had to learn in junior high, but haven't done it since!
I have been wanting to learn to sew for the longest time! Let me know what people say the best beginners sewing machine is. Good luck!
My sewing talent is limited to replacing buttons and, in an emergency, hems!

When I was in home ec, I had a boy sew the button on the fabric scrap. And I wasn't even cute, I was just that desperate.
Also, I totally didn't understand why you were asking a sewer for sewing advice, because I read it like soo-er instead of soh-er. Get it?
Keep at it, you'll get the hang of it! I got a singer from Walmart...it's not the best machine out there, but it does the job quite nicely! :)
