af: schwan's

Being new residents, the Schwan's man stopped by the house to see if we wanted to be put on his route. Because I can't say no, I said yes. I do love Schwan's, but I think it's a tad expensive. HOWEVER, for a gal who doesn't like to cook, (that would be me,) I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth the price.

Anyhoo, they just lowered the price of their ice cream, and their ice cream is to die for! I ordered Pecan Praline Sundae and Confetti Cake. Confetti cake ice cream? YUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! There are pieces of cake in it! I'm a sucker for cake! My question for you is:

What is your favorite Schwan's ice cream? If you've never had Schwan's, what's your favorite brand and kind of ice cream?

atwt: washable?

So when they say "washable" it apparently isn't referring to skin. This was a pain in the ars to get off! Not to mention she also colored her feet and her clothes. Mom of the year award goes to me for my glorious supervision!

friend makin monday

Outside my window... the wind is blowing so loudly that I think it might take the roof off.

I am thinking... that I love blog carnivals.

I am thankful... for the option to stay home with my kids.

I am praying... that Otter's EEG will be normal and that his seizures have not returned.

I am reading... The Lovely Bones. I have 2 Nicholas Sparks books left to read but they were both checked out already.

I am creating... hmmm, tough one. Breastmilk? :)

From the kitchen... macaroni & cheese and steamed veggies for supper.

Around the house... clutter as usual, folded laundry that needs to be put away, baby accessories, papers that need to be filed, and the list goes on.

One of my favorite things... comments!

A few plans for the rest of the week... get the minivan licensed, have my IUD inserted if I don't chicken out, and laundry laundry and more laundry.

birth control

So I'm 99.99% sure we're done having kids. Pretty much 100% sure. However, I'm only 25, and I'm not ready to take permanent action. I figured an IUD would be the best bet since they last for 5 years. Then in 5 years, we can do something permanent, ahem...Hubby can do something permanent.

The Baby is now 7 1/2 weeks old, and I had my 6 week check last week. Wouldn't ya know, I couldn't commit to the IUD. I don't know why! It just freaks me out for some reason. I really need to decide this week because my doctor says it's easiest to put in when the cervix is still a little "ripe."

I think I'm gonna do it. What do you think? I'm just afraid I'm gonna have a bad reaction to it or something and have to take it out, throwing all that money down the tube. And of course the Mirena website has been under maintenance for over a week.

otter's seizures

During a play Otter was in last week, I was sure I saw him have a seizure on stage. His eyes blinked rapidly and his movements slowed. Hubby didn't see it so I thought I was being paranoid. Thankfully Hubby was videotaping and when he watched the video he saw it too. When I asked Otter about it he said that sometimes he sees red dots and he feels like he's losing his mind. Today he told me that sometimes his eyes blink really fast and he sees flashing colors and the weather. The weather??? I know, right?

We sent the video to Dr. K and he confirmed that it was a seizure.

Although we haven't seen any more seizures since the play, Otter is able to tell me when he has them. When I asked him what happens when he has one, he was actually able to show me what they look like, which I think is CRAZY! When I mentioned this to Dr. K he said it's very odd that he would be able to do it on command, which would be more common for a tic. I sent him a video and it's looking like they may be tics. However, the video at the play still looks like a seizure. So who knows! If they are tics, his EEG will still be normal. Please pray this is the case! The Lord is taking care of us!

atwt: i know a contestant on the bachelor!

This is a photo of Elizabeth's little brother and I back in the day. We grew up together. Elizabeth was eliminated on this week's show of The Bachelor after Jake accused her of being a tease. Take a look at her exclusive interview here.

From this...

Can't say I'm too thrilled with our recent purchase, but it's SO much more practical for a family of 5.

af: breastfeeding

This is my first Aloha Friday post! If you're a first time visitor, welcome! Take a look around and I hope I'll be seeing you more often!

I'm so happy to say that breastfeeding is going great this time around! It was an absolute disaster with the other two! I breastfed Otter for about half a day before giving up. Raven was exclusively breastfed for two weeks with EXCRUCIATING pain and bleeding nipples, and then I started supplementing and quit breastfeeding altogether at two months.

Now that breastfeeding is going so beautifully, I wonder how long I'll decide to do it. People ask me how long I'm planning on nursing all the time. When I say I'd like to nurse for a year they pretty much tell me I'm crazy. I'm not going to set any specific date. For now I'll enjoy my precious time with The Baby and we can make the decision together.

Did you breastfeed your kids? If so, how long?

atwt: growing to love

Raven wasn't all too thrilled about having a new baby in the house. At the hospital we practically forced her to look at The Baby. She kept saying, "I'm a princess," as if to remind us that this new thing was not taking her position. The first few pix were taken the very first time Raven had any interaction with The Baby.

Taking a look.

The first touch

This isn't so bad!

The first of many laughs together.

3rd time's a charm?

I have incredibly mixed emotions about starting this blog again. It's seems I have a difficult time committing. However I always find that I miss it. I have a reasonable excuse this time, however looking back I wish I would've blogged through the craziness that was my life.

Since you last saw me:

Hubby got a job transfer so we moved 3 hours away from the only place I've ever known, leaving behind my parents, and other family and dear friends.

We couldn't find a rental or a decent house to buy in the dinky little town, forcing us to live in a tiny cottage that was the size of your living room, sleeping on air mattresses for 6 weeks. Not incredibly comfortable for a pregnant woman.

Otter started coming off the diet.

Otter started kindergarten.

We finally found a rental. HOWEVER, Hubby got a job offer about 45 miles from my hometown. Therefore we moved into the rental for a month.

At 8 months pregnant, we bought a house and moved AGAIN. It was a good move, and I'm enjoying being closer to family!

On December 4, our precious daughter was born!

Otter has been off the diet for a few months, and is now considered cured from his epilepsy!

Hubby is currently training in a city 2 hours away, so he's only home on the weekends. Having 3 kids by myself has been a challenge, but we're doing fine. The Baby is the best baby ever, and breastfeeding is going great! I guess the 3rd time really is a charm!
