letter of intent & fragments

Dear Raven~
I have some fabulous ideas. How about we cut our own hair, that would be fun. Maybe we can eat garlic powder straight from the container and then vomit. I love cleaning up vomit that smells of garlic, let's do it! We could also jump off the couch head first. Who doesn't love a concussion? The best thing we could do is throw ourselves down dramatically and cry for 30 minutes about how we don't want to go to bed. That's always my fave. So how about it girl? Whatta ya say?
Love, Bald Mommy

I'm crossing my fingers that the girls' leg warmers will come today so I can do my review and start the giveaway for FIVE pairs of leg warmers tomorrow! Don't forget you can get a discount at My Little Legs by using the coupon code, MessyMommy, and get 10 extra entries for the giveaway! They have cute boy styles too!

Throwing a baby shower tomorrow for my BFF. Don't get me started on how much I paid on PAPER plates, cups, and napkins. Ugh. I'll post pictures of all the cuteness.

Ya know that app I submitted last week? I GOT AN INTERVIEW. 1 week from today. Gotta go buy a new outfit!

Otter had a field trip today and was going to his first sleepover tonight. Wouldn't you know it's the only day this school year he winds up SICK! Boo.

Thanks for your input on my dilemma with The Baby. I'm not gonna stop worrying now. She's perfect.

the baby's inadequate weight gain

I took The Baby in for her 4-month check a couple weeks ago. She only weighed 11 pounds 2 ounces. She was 10 pounds at her 2-month check. She only gained a little over a pound in two months. She went from the 26th percentile to the 4th.

DrM was only slightly concerned because she's doing great otherwise. Developmentally on schedule, happiest baby ever, yatta yatta yatta. He told me to start some cereal and bring her back in a month so he can check her again. If she still isn't gaining well, he wants me to supplement formula.

This made my heart sink! I've written about my breastfeeding struggles with the other two and really thought The Baby and I were getting it. Then this happens, just as I was finally at the point of thinking we were successful in our breastfeeding relationship.

Ever since the beginning I've had to be very aggressive with breastfeeding The Baby. I was always forcing her to eat longer than she really wanted because I was so paranoid about her getting enough. When she hit 2 months and was gaining well, I let her take over. She would never eat for very long at all, but she was happy and content, so I left it at that! So now I'm back to pushing her and it hasn't been easy!

On top of that, she ended up getting sick and was pretty much spitting up everything that went in. Pretty sure she lost some weight, which is just fantabulous.

I tried cereal for a couple days but I read in several places that breastmilk is more fattening than cereal. So why would I replace breastmilk with cereal? She hated it anyway.

Have any suggestions for me?

Welcome to Movie Monday! To play along, grab the button on the sidebar and/or click the button below.

Movie Monday @ Messy Mommy

Richie Rich: The richest kid in the world, Richie Rich, has everything he wants, except companionship. When a plot to kill the Rich family is devised by Rich Industries' top executive, Richie must take over control of the company while searching for his lost parents with the help of some new friends. PG

I love this movie. It's great for the whole family. It's fun to see all the cool toys Richie has. What life would be like with money. :) I recommend it. The kids love it!

Ed: Minor league. Major friendship. A story of a baseball player and a chimpanzee. PG

When we came across this movie on Netflix Watch Instantly, we thought it would be a good one. Who doesn't love monkeys and Joey from Friends, right? WRONG! This movie was HORRIBLE! I didn't even finish watching it was so bad. The chimp isn't even real, it's a costume. Bad acting all around. Don't waste your time on this one!

friday fragments on saturday

I've been neglecting my bloggy friends and depriving you of comments. I still love you. I'll be back soon.

I spent 11 hours on Wednesday cooking an entire month's worth of food. I came across Once a Month Mom during UBP and you simply HAVE to check her out. My family gets to eat! I cooked! And I liked it! And we have FOOD! MIRACLES MIRACLES ALL AROUND US!

P.S. Don't take three children grocery shopping when you're attempting to buy a month's worth of food. It does NOT work. Thank the Lord I had a friend who could come pick them up from the store before I shelved and sold them myself.

I spent ALL DAY yesterday preparing my application for a teaching position next year.

Our family's going to a dance tonight. And you all know how I feel about dancing. BRING ON THE PARTAY!

movie monday #10

Welcome to Movie Monday! Grab the button on my sidebar and/or click the button to play along!

Movie Monday @ Messy Mommy

Where the Wild Things Are: An adaptation of Maurice Sendak's classic children's story, where Max, a disobedient little boy sent to bed without his supper, creates his own world--a forest inhabited by ferocious wild creatures that crown Max as their ruler. PG

I didn't take my kids to this movie when it was in theaters because I heard from so many that it was scary. I really didn't think it was scary at all. My kids {ages 6 and 3} didn't think it was scary either. Granted, there were a few parts that were a little creepy in a weird sort of way, but nothing that would cause nightmares or anything. I'm wondering if I went into it expecting it to be super scary, so it didn't come off as bad. Kinda like when you expect a movie to be really funny and it turned out to be not as funny as you thought. Expectations can really change a movie outcome! I thought this movie was good for the most part. Otter LOVED it. Raven didn't really care one way or the other.

Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken: This is the story of Sonora Webster, a teenage runaway during the Depression. Her life's ambition is to travel to Atlantic City and become a diving girl. An inspiring true-life adventure of a courageous young rebel who defied the odds...and won. G

This is one of my absolute favorite movies! If you haven't seen it you MUST! It's a beautiful story. I saw that it was on Netflix Watch Instantly so when we got our streaming disc for the Wii this week I thought it would be a good movie that the whole family would enjoy. It actually kept the kids' attention the whole time. LOVE IT!

For Keeps: Darcy and her long-term boyfriend Stan are in their last months of school and already have found places in good colleges. Darcy ends up pregnant and neither of their parents are supportive. PG-13

I had never heard of this movie, but I came across it on Netflix Watch Instantly and decided to give it a try. I always enjoy teen pregnancy movies since I was a pregnant teen. I really liked this movie. It really makes me appreciate our parents for supporting us through my pregnancy and after. I really don't know what we would have done without them! The movie had some good humor in it too.

friday fragments

My baby is sick. My heart just breaks for her she's so miserable.

Is it possible to leave a well-child check as a well-child?

Btw, I have discovered that while it may be possible for me to survive without sleep, it may not be possible for my husband to survive through my sleep deprivation. Aka, I will kill you. Keep your distance my love.

The Baby only gained 1 pound in 2 months. More on that next week when I pour my heart out with Shell.

Netflix streaming disc for the Wii? It pretty much rocks my socks off. Get it.

Question: Why is it okay to refer to your kids as "the kids" but rude to refer to your kid as "the kid"? Example: "I have to go pick up the kids." vs. "I have to go pick up the kid." See the difference there?

I had a dream that I met Mrs. 4444 IRL. I was so nervous I just stood there and pointed. Luckily she recognized me. Then we were BFFs and played basketball. Ya, my dreams are weird.

I'm throwing a baby shower for a friend next month. Any suggestions? I was SUPER stoked to win some personalized baby shower favors and other cool stuff from mypreciousarrival.com. Thanks Mommies Angels!

Twilight: New Moon: After Bella recovers from the vampire attack that almost claimed her life, she looks to celebrate her birthday with Edward and his family. PG-13

Ya, I finally saw it. I had NO intentions of ever watching this series. My cousin got the first movie for Christmas and we all watched it. And then I FINALLY saw what all the hype was about. This movie was good. I thought it moved kinda slowly at first but it came through for me. Hubby didn't really care for it. I'm going to read the books! I can't put it off any longer! I'm TEAM EDWARD! Hubby's Team Jacob. What are you?

Princess and the Frog: A fairy tale set in Jazz Age-era New Orleans and centered on a young girl named Tiana and her fateful kiss with a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again. G

The kids love this movie! So did I! It's adorable and funny. I loved all the accents! So cute. I really could have done without all the voodoo junk though. There were some parts I thought would really scare Raven but they didn't seem to bother her. We bought it and have watched a zillion times now. We know all the songs already. :)

prayer is power: casey

Please grab the Prayer is Power button on my sidebar. Click the button to post your requests and praises, {link welcome but not required} and please pray for those listed.

Prayer is Power

Do you have a story on how the power of prayer has affected your life? Email me at aliasblogger {at} yahoo.com.

This week's featured story is from Casey. She blogs at Ramblings of Casey, Ramblings of a Lymie, and Ramblings of a God's Girl. She was recently diagnosed with Lyme disease and the following is her story.

Ramblings of Casey

In 2008 while I was pregnant I became very ill after a trip to Arkansas. The end of my pregnancy was rough and spend on complete bed rest and in the hospital for 2 weeks before delivery. Once the baby was born instead of getting better like everyone thought I would I got worse. For the next two years I would go from doctor to doctor trying to find an answer. In November of 2009 I started praying for guidance in what I should do next. I decided to start researching lyme disease since a friend's son who went on vacation with us had similar symptoms and was diagnosed with lyme disease. I found that all of my symptoms went perfectly with lyme disease and I found a doctor that dealt with lyme disease. Prayer is what led me to this doctor and led me to a diagnosis. Once I went to the doctor and got the confirmation of lyme disease everything moved fast. We went from being fine in regards to finances to not knowing how we were going to pay for things. All we could do is pray and pray we did. We sent out several prayer requests to family and friends. In February things started happening and the only explanation is the power of prayer.

We started receiving donations from family and friends from church. A wonderful friend from church stepped up and said she would help watch our kids so Chris could go into work two days a week. Another friend from church set up meals and times for women from church to come help clean the house. These were things where we didn't know how we were going to manage and only by God's grace did things happen in the way they did. Money was still becoming an issue and I was about to be put on a new treatment that was going to cost us $800 a month.

One night we heard a knock on the door and two women asked if they could buy our car in the drive way. Now this car had not been working since November 2009 and here it was February 2010. We explained that there was something wrong with it but we didn't have the money to fix it and they looked at it and still wanted it. One of their husbands was a mechanic. So they offered $1400 for it which was trade in value. We took them up on their offer and got a copy of the identification cards and a point of sale. The money was real and in one night we sold our car and could help pay for my medical costs! All I can say is God knew our needs at that given moment, it is for him that those two women came to our door when they did. A few weeks later we found out that insurance was actually going to cover my medicine for 6 weeks so we didn't have to pay that $800 then and that money from the car could go to paying other medical bills. It was amazing and we were so blessed by God's grace.

These are just a few examples of how God has worked in our lives. Even before I got ill we would notice him doing things in our lives. I can't begin to describe how I feel though these past few months where I have really felt his love and protection. God truly will get you through anything and he does answer prayers.

Our God is an Awesome God! Please keep Casey in your prayers as she still has a long way to go! The following is a prayer request from her.

As most of you know I was diagnosed with Lyme disease back in January. Well, most people aren't aware of the controversy surrounding this diagnosis. I found out in the past couple of days that my lyme doctor is being investigated by the Texas Medical Board. I am really scared for him and all of his patients. Without these doctors lyme patients wont get better. If we could get prayers for him and that he wont have his license taking away, us lyme patients really need him. For safety reasons for him I can't give his name. Thank you for the prayers.

Thanks for sharing Casey!
